What's it about?

SHE PAST AWAY is a dark wave / post-punk duo consisting of Volkan Caner (vocals, guitars, and songwriting) and Doruk Ozturkcan (drums, synths, and production). They experiment with an old/new aesthetic of synth music integrated into their core guitar sound, forging a style, attitude, and sensibility conveyed through minimalist poetry sung in Turkish, which takes the audience on a dense, continuous epic journey in both recordings and live performances. SHE PAST AWAY released their critically acclaimed first EP "Kasvetli Kutlama" via Remoov in April 2009. After the digital release of their debut album "Belirdi Gece" in February 2012, the band signed with Fabrika Records in 2013 and shortly thereafter released "Belirdi Gece" in LP format. Including tracks like "Rituel," "Ruh," and "Kasvetli Kutlama," the album was listed as one of the best albums of the decade 2010-2019 by post-punk.com. With the release of their follow-up album "Narin Yalnızlık" in May 2015, the duo established themselves as one of the most influential and successful genre-defining acts of dark wave music, performing numerous crowd-pulling shows worldwide. In December 2018, the band signed with Metropolis Records and re-issued both albums in North America. They released a beautifully dark and driving new album, "Disko Anksiyete," via Metropolis Records and Fabrika Records in May 2019. In May 2020, the band celebrated their tenth anniversary with the remix album "X," featuring remixes from Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon, Clan of Xymox, Front 242, Lebanon Hanover, and others. In October 2020, they released their first-ever live studio recording titled "Part Time Punks Session." SHE PAST AWAY delivers a mesmerizing outburst of sentimental anxiety through a nihilistic mindset. It is both personal and broad, like a wandering mind brave enough to question taboos and existence.
