With her literary contribution, Verena Dolovai opens up a new perspective on the Upper Austrian Peasant War and its significance for the present. The focus is on questions of memory, identity, power, and societal role models. Verena Dolovai's contribution to the reception and appropriation of history, based on the Upper Austrian Peasant War of 1626, is part of the Communale OÖ 2026 in cooperation with the Art Collection of the Province of Upper Austria. As the only literary contribution alongside visual positions, she opens up an additional narrative level. Following Dorf ohne Franz, Meer mit Franz emerges as an expanded chapter that re-examines history from a new perspective – on the peasantry, property, church, origin, gender roles, as well as on language, attributions, and memory as a contested space of interpretation. Part of the communale Artist-in-Residency program and the exhibition RE©ZEPTION – Interpretation and Appropriation in the crypt of Mariendom from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A project of communale oö 2026.
