The riverbed of the Ache in the Kundler Klamm is a site where various geological rock types can be found. Many a hiker discovers their stone here. You can have these conglomerates and other rocks ground or transformed into utilitarian objects and thus "brought to life" at the Haus der Steine at the entrance to the Kundler Klamm. So, search for stones and have them "turned" into vases or bowls. An expert opinion on the stone's genesis is also provided. The building is modeled after a fallen rock, which appears rather inconspicuous from the outside. Only inside does its special character reveal itself. In the Haus der Steine, which serves as an exhibition and sales room, the most beautiful stones and minerals of Tyrol are lined up. You can see deep green malachite, azurite, serpentine, fossilized petrifications, or the rare colorful conglomerate, which, incidentally, only occurs in this form in this region. They owe their shape and colorful appearance to the owner Karl Sandbichler. The Kundler processes local rock into artistic objects. From marble, for example, he creates decorative apple vases, and fossilized fossils become filigree jewelry. But also large-format items such as stone tables, fountains, or sculptures are in the shop. Karl Sandbichler is a master of his craft and an absolute stone expert. He knows a lot about the genesis and composition of the found stones. It is not for nothing that he is also called the "stone philosopher." Therefore, one should take their time when visiting the "stone age."
