What's it about?
On his expeditions to some of the most inhospitable places on Earth – including Onekotan, Siberia, the Arctic, and Antarctica – Matthias Haunholder has faced extreme challenges that have shaped not only his athletic career but also his personal development. In his lecture, he recounts the experiences of these adventures, discusses the risks and the intensive planning required for such undertakings, and shares the valuable lessons he has learned from his previous expeditions. About Matthias Haunholder: Born on December 28, 1979, and raised in Walchsee/Tirol, I now live in Erl near Kufstein with my wife Monika and our two children. As a freeride pioneer, long-time rider of the Freeride World Tour, and the first German-speaking winner of the FWT, I am currently active as a keynote speaker, coach, consultant, protagonist, and producer of ski adventure films. The pursuit of adventures and new challenges drives all my projects. Additional Program: Workshop "Tactical Alpine Medicine": As an additional offering, there is a workshop on the topic of "tactical alpine medicine" before the lecture. The workshop provides compact, easy-to-apply knowledge and skills for first aid in emergencies in alpine terrain. The focus is on the approach of helping quickly and effectively with a few efficient maneuvers and minimal equipment.
