Pastorale

What's it about?

The landscape of East Tyrol becomes a stage: the Lienz Symphony Orchestra performs Beethoven's 'Pastorale' to images from the region. On November 21 and 22, 2026, the Lienz Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gerald Mair, will for the first time combine a complete concert program with a specially produced visual component at the Stadtsaal Lienz. East Tyrolean photographer and videographer Sascha Schernthaner filmed in various locations across East Tyrol over several weeks and months for this project. The program features Bedřich Smetana's 'From Bohemia's Woods and Fields' and Ludwig van Beethoven's 6th Symphony, the 'Pastorale.' The orchestra, under Gerald Mair's direction, is already in the rehearsal phase. About 50 musicians from East Tyrol, Carinthia, and South Tyrol will perform. Performance times: Saturday at 7:30 PM, Sunday at 6:00 PM. Ticket sales: Tourism Information Office Lienz, Mühlgasse 11, 9900 Lienz. Online tickets: www.sinfonieorchester-lienz.at
