What's it about?
When music becomes images On November 21 and 22, 2026, the audience at the Stadtsaal Lienz can expect a concert experience that has never been seen before with the Lienz Symphony Orchestra: grand symphonic music meets impressive images from East Tyrol. The event begins with Bedřich Smetana's "From Bohemia's Grove and Field" from the cycle "My Homeland" – a vast musical landscape full of movement, nature, and joy of life. Following this, Ludwig van Beethoven's 6th Symphony, the "Pastoral," will be performed. Beethoven describes his feelings in nature: from the awakening of cheerful feelings in the countryside, scenes by the stream, and lively gatherings, to thunderstorms and storms – and finally calm and gratitude in the shepherd's song. Both works are enhanced with a new dimension: East Tyrolean photo and videographer Sascha Schernthaner has developed an artistically demanding video concept with nature impressions from all over East Tyrol. In his work, music often dictates rhythm and tempo long before the first image is created. His idea is to emphasize what is already there. Special places, valleys, and moments enter into a dialogue with the music of Smetana and Beethoven – creating a unique musical-visual overall experience on stage and screen. Music becomes landscape, and landscape becomes part of the music – thus, 19th-century music merges with images of our homeland.
