An exclusive look behind the scenes of the Girls' Choir and the Sängerknaben Schedule: Girls' Choir rehearsal Sängerknaben rehearsal The Wiltener Sängerknaben are one of the oldest and most renowned boys' choirs in Europe – and yet sound astonishingly contemporary. Around 150 boys and young male voices, and for some years now also girls, shape the sound. The training is closely linked to Wilten Abbey and the Tyrolean State Conservatory – supported by a practice that has grown over generations. Under the direction of Johannes Stecher, the choir has developed into an internationally sought-after ensemble. Performances have taken them to La Scala in Milan, as well as to the Salzburg, Bregenz, and Tyrolean Festivals. What can be heard here is not a museum-like heritage, but a living form of tradition – precise, multi-layered, and in the best sense open to the present.
