In the parishes, the Harvest Festival is celebrated at different times, usually between the end of September and the end of October on a Sunday as part of the church service, followed by a procession and celebration. It is intended not only to show gratitude but also to serve as a reminder that it is not solely in human hands to have sufficient food. The tradition of the Harvest Festival can be traced back to a secular custom of rural working life from the 18th century, where the farmhands presented the farmer with a wreath of braided grain after the harvest was completed and were then served a festive meal.
