
Those driving through the Upper Drautal by car or bicycle can admire the imposing Stein Castle from a distance on the shady side between Irschen and Dellach train stations, where it majestically thrones on a pointed rock needle. Until now, however, it was not possible to visit the most famous postcard motif between Spittal an der Drau and Lienz, which is still used as a residence by the Orsini-Rosenberg family, except for Holy Masses in the castle chapel. Access to the living quarters remained denied to interested visitors. But now that is changing: Prince Heinrich Orsini Rosenberg is breaking new ground and opening the castle, which can now also be booked for overnight stays, for regular guided tours.
