The historic Maria Luggau monastery garden was newly laid out according to monument preservation guidelines and its planting is based on the principles of Traditional European Medicine (TEM). The garden combines historic garden architecture with medicinal plant cultivation. The approximately one-hour guided tour covers aspects of garden history as well as monastic medicine and Traditional European Medicine. Using the plant world of the garden, we span a medical-historical arc – from Hippocrates to Hildegard von Bingen to the present day.
