The Karnisches Ungetüm is the alpine challenge for experienced trail runners who are looking for something original and demanding. The approximately 50-kilometer long route leads through the impressive mountain world of the Carnic Alps - over narrow paths, rocky passages, steep ascents and exposed ridges with impressive panoramic views. The run is considered technically very demanding: steep trails, stony traverses, alpine terrain and challenging downhills require sure-footedness, concentration and experience in the mountains. In the trail running scene, the Karnisches Ungetüm is therefore repeatedly referred to by runners as one of Austria's toughest trail runs - not only because of the distance, but above all because of the technical demands and the elevation gain.
