What's it about?

A matinee with the great European writer Robert Menasse as the prelude to a special day of music and literature in and around Ossiach Abbey. Music and literature, but also encounters in conversation, are central components of the Carinthischer Sommer concept. On this special day of our festival, the team enters into a direct dialogue with the audience. We will talk about favourite texts and favourite pieces, about what touches, moves and inspires us in art. People connected to Carinthischer Sommer will talk about books that have accompanied them for years and about authors they are fond of. Works of old and new music will also be performed. The entire Ossiach Abbey will become a stage on this day. The day begins with a reading by Robert Menasse. Afterwards, various programme items invite discovery, including a world premiere by Gerd Kühr. After a joint lunch break, the programme continues in the afternoon and finds its evening climax in works by Franz Liszt, interpreted by the young pianist Adela Liculescu.
