SEBASTIAN KÖPCKE | VOLKER WEINHOLD A photographic essay LISA HUBER FARBHOLZSCHNITTE (Color Woodcuts) The story began in the museums of the Benedictine Monastery of Admont. Lisa Huber and the collection photographers Sebastian Köpcke and Volker Weinhold met there as exhibiting artists. From their first visit to the artist's studio in Berlin, the decision was made to portrait Lisa Huber in all the things found along the roadside of her life. With their camera, they also visited her workshop at the House of Artistic Encounter in Villach, where the Carinthian artist has her second home. The series of images in the photographic essay allows for ambiguous inferences about a personality who lives for art with sacred seriousness and is now in the midst of a large work. Sebastian Köpcke and Volker Weinhold have established themselves as artists who interpret museum collections through photography. With their staged still lifes, in which they relate historical objects to each other, they have developed a distinctive visual language. Their exhibitions have been shown in renowned museums in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, and the Netherlands. The glimpse into Lisa Huber's world of life is thus her most personal approach to the present so far. Lisa Huber, born in Villach, studied sculpture in Graz with Prof. Josef Pillhofer; painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna; master student of Prof. Adolf Frohner; DAAD scholarship at the Berlin-Weißensee Art College with Prof. Dieter Goltzsche; guest student at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Georg Baselitz. Cycles based on biblical themes and Christian tradition are central to her work. Since 2007, she has engaged with the Psalms translated by Martin Buber/Franz Rosenzweig in wood and paper cuts, church windows, the Stations of the Cross at Sachsenburg in art glass, and large embroidered cloths (including the Lenten cloth of the Cathedral of Klagenfurt, St. Stephen's Cathedral Vienna, Bamberg Imperial Cathedral, Villach Parish Church, Worms Imperial Cathedral, Benedictine Monastery of Admont). www.lisahuber.de | Instagram: lisa_huber_art_ www.sammlungsfotografen.de We offer guided tours and workshops for groups of all kinds, as well as for school classes and kindergartens, by appointment via phone.
