What's it about?

Exhibition of photographic works by ROMINA ACHATZ: A series of 35mm film photographs printed on canvas, created during extended research stays in various regions of Japan – from remote fishing villages in southern Kyūshū to the mountains of Yamagata Prefecture; through places shaped by Shugendō and the practice of Yamabushi, past traces of ninja culture, underground fight clubs in Tokyo, and quiet fragments of everyday life. "Outlandish" refers not only to the foreign or unfamiliar but also to moments that seem to exist outside ordinary time – encounters with nature, abandoned haunted houses, mountain rituals of wandering monks, solitude, and that peculiar intimacy that can be created through the camera. The works oscillate between documentation and dreamscape. They are never created from mere observation but from participation, capturing fragments of life that are difficult to contain in...
