Ensemble formed from four cultures, the Oscar Antoli Quartet features Oscar Antolí on clarinet/Kaval, Rainer Maria Nero on guitar, Marko Ferlan on E-Bass/Bassukulele, and Carlos Ronda Mas on percussion. Four musicians from four cultural worlds shape the heart of the Oscar Antolí Quartet, whose sound arises from the diversity of its lineup and combines Mediterranean musical traditions with contemporary jazz. Their musical roots span across the Mediterranean region and offer a variety of musical influences, evoking images and memories of people, life, and distant worlds in their pieces. Instead of a traditional frontman-plus-accompaniment model, the quartet lives from four strong personalities who equally contribute their origins and musical backgrounds. Oscar Antolí blends Mediterranean melodies with oriental colors on clarinet, bass clarinet, and Kaval. Rainer Maria Nero contributes a guitar that shifts between flamenco roots and jazz openness. Marko Ferlan grounds the ensemble's sound with E-Bass and bass ukulele, bringing rhythmic flexibility from Balkan jazz. Carlos Ronda Mas expands the spectrum with Mediterranean and Latin American grooves, giving the pieces their pulsating energy. The resulting sound is gentle, joyful, and rhythmically complex—a mixture that evokes memories and images of distant people and lands.
