What's it about?

Exhibition with photographic works by ROMINA ACHATZ: A series of 35mm film photographs, printed on canvas, created during extended research stays in various regions of Japan – from remote fishing villages in southern Kyūshū to the mountains of Yamagata Prefecture; through places shaped by Shugendō and the practice of the Yamabushi, past traces of ninja culture, underground fight clubs in Tokyo, and silent fragments of everyday life. "Outlandish" refers not only to the foreign or unfamiliar, but also to moments that seem to exist outside of ordinary time – encounters with nature, abandoned ghost houses, mountain rituals of wandering monks and solitude, as well as with that peculiar intimacy that can arise through the camera.
