
The Villach Kirtag (traditional fair) transforms the festively decorated Villach Old Town for a week into a unique stage for living customs, music, culinary delights, and exuberant joie de vivre. The traditional festival has been celebrated since 1936 and is considered Austria's largest traditional festival with around 450,000 visitors annually. At the 81st Villach Kirtag from July 26 to August 2, 2026, guests can expect a diverse program with more than 130 individual events, local and international music and traditional costume groups, as well as atmospheric performances on several stages. Among the highlights is the grand traditional costume parade on Saturday, August 1, 2026, where thousands of people in traditional costumes, folk dance groups, and brass bands from the entire Alpine-Adriatic region march through Villach city center.
