Galerie Walker I Schloss Ebenau
What's it about?
Exhibition CLAUS PROKOP ... or The Love of Geometry The Galerie Walker dedicates a comprehensive retrospective to the artist Claus Prokop from Carinthia with the exhibition „... or The Love of Geometry“ at Schloss Ebenau this autumn. His characteristic large- and small-format paintings on aluminum and wood serve as a contrast to installation works as well as a large-scale sculpture in the castle garden. The exhibition title references Max Frisch's play „Don Juan or The Love of Geometry“. Just as Frisch was less interested in the myth than in the cultural image of Don Juan, Prokop's focus is not on geometry as a mathematical system of order, but on the ideas associated with it. His works combine digital construction with manual execution and demonstrate that behind geometric shapes there can be much more than order and precision.
