What's it about?

The photographs of Walter Schramm, first published in a comprehensive photo book in 2018, are on view at the Grafiktrakt in the 2026 season. The exhibition features a selection from his photographic oeuvre developed over decades, capturing the lively environment of the Austrian art scene in general and the Museum Liaunig in particular through vivid snapshots. Since the opening of Museum Liaunig in 2008, Walter Schramm has accompanied opening receptions, encounters, and events with a keen eye. His photographs range between reportage, portrait, and situational observation, without appearing staged. Instead, they show people in authentic moments: in conversation, exchange, and experiencing art. Schramm's photographs are characterized by a special immediacy. They are spontaneous "light images" that capture atmosphere, dynamics, and social interaction—marked by a fine sense for the right moment.
