What's it about?
In poetisch, radikal (poetically, radically), Cornelia Caufmann explores freedom as an artistic practice within the tension between image and sign. Independent of formal and linguistic norms, she understands her gestural calligraphic painting as a processual event. The exhibition combines works on paper, canvas, and gold ground, created at the intersection between acoustic impulse and painterly expression. In addition to the exhibition, there is a live performance titled Signal to Noise, which features a dialogic exchange of sound and painting – with composer Karlheinz Essl on synthesizer and Cornelia Caufmann.
