What's it about?
The exhibition DEPARTURE! in Klagenfurt explores the more than 1000-year relationship between Carinthia and Styria. It focuses on why people throughout history have departed and crossed the mountainous borders between the two federal states. Work, trade, education, recreation, pilgrimages, health, politics, or love – the motives were diverse. The exhibition shows how people, ideas, innovations, and goods cross borders, exchange, linger, or move on. This creates a cultural-historical perspective on commonalities, differences, and the close connection of the shared Southeast Alpine region.
