What's it about?
Christoph Strasser has been participating in ultra-cycling races since 2002 and developed into the number 1 in the world in the following years. His records and victories at the Race Across America are material for the history books. After a total of 9 attempts and 6 wins at the world's toughest ultracycling race, Strasser sought a new challenge: unsupported ultracycling. Completely on his own and equipped only with a racing bike and the essentials, Strasser embarked on a new challenge. And he found it. The Transcontinental Race, thousands of kilometers across Europe, was still a utopia in the mind of the Styrian exceptional athlete just a few years ago. Unlike the goals he had already achieved, which he always experienced with his team, unsupported races, as the name suggests, take place without support and without a team. Although, besides the physical strain, the organizational part also comes into play beforehand, where he must plan the route, nutrition, and sleep strategy himself for a course of up to 5000 kilometers, at the end, unsupported races are about one thing: moving forward. Christoph Strasser takes his audience on a very personal and athletic journey. How has the first part of his sporting life influenced the second? How has he grown as a person, and what lessons does he take from the past 20 years of ultracycling to overcome personal and sporting challenges? This multimedia lecture features images and videos of his greatest defeats and most beautiful victories. It is about records, humorous stories, and how each person in the room can take the contents of the lecture into their own hands to advance and positively influence their personal development.
