Distillation Workshop Phytonauts' Expedition: Artemisia Annua How are essential oils and hydrolates created? What actually happens when you extract a plant's volatile components with steam? How is a hydrolate formed? Where does the essential oil come from? What does botany tell us about the plant? Our "Dicke Berta", the Phytonauts' large copper still, is not only the focus of the action - it is our laboratory, our observation station, and sometimes a bit of a diva. The Location The Artfarm in Pölzgraben in Niklasdorf Between forests, meadows and the slopes of Pölzgraben, an astonishing number of native medicinal and wild plants grow. For me, this place is therefore not only home and workplace, but also a kind of living classroom. You won't go home empty-handed Of course, every participant will receive a small bottle of hydrolate to take home. For whom? For people who find plants exciting and have always wanted to know how distillation works. People who are interested in essential oils and hydrolates and like to experience it themselves instead of just listening. For people who want to look at nature from a different perspective, and for everyone who simply wants to spend an unusual, sensual and educational day. No prior knowledge required.
