Naples during Easter week. While countless processions wind through even the smallest alleys and Neapolitans argue over the last portion of mussel soup in fish restaurants, Commissario Gaetano spends the holidays at his father's estate in the Campanian hinterland with his brother Aniello and his niece Carla – until Good Friday when Gaetano's new colleague Beppa Bellucci calls: a dead man has been washed ashore in the harbor basin. Reluctantly, Gaetano interrupts his time off to assist the fisherman's daughter in her first case. The investigation leads Gaetano and his team from the noble Chiaia district through the picturesque slopes of the high-end Vomero to the bustling fishing port of Mergellina, where tradition and modernity vie for dominance.
