Quadro Nuevo - Happy Deluxe
What's it about?
On September 29, 2027, Quadro Nuevo will be guest at forumKLOSTER with the program "HAPPY Deluxe." The four musicians take the audience on a musical journey full of joy, lightness, and beautiful moments. Since their founding in 1996, the ensemble has been performing on stages around the world — from Helsinki to Hong Kong and from New York to the Caucasus. Their daring, distinctive style of playing has been recognized with two ECHO awards, a gold record, the German Record Critics' Award, and several jazz awards. Together with the extravagantly witty accordionist Andreas Hinterseher and the inventive New York musician Tim Collins on vibraphone, Quadro Nuevo lives its music fully in the here and now. This results in a sound reminiscent of southern city squares, fairs, nocturnal encounters, and musical adventures. Inspired by stays in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, by shimmering midday heat, Brazilian music, dance, encounters, and joie de vivre, the album "HAPPY Deluxe" was created. From there, the four virtuosos venture into improvisational new territory: sometimes soaring in the gentle support of Energie Steiermark, sometimes diving into Mediterranean glittering seas, and sometimes relaxedly spun in daydreams and nocturnal wandering. The result is the new album HAPPY Deluxe. Quadro Nuevo regards this music as a sonic homage to moments of happiness. It arises from experiences and encounters and offers a positive counterworld, especially in challenging times. Band members: Mulo Francel: saxophones, clarinets, mandolin; Andreas Hinterseher: accordion, bandoneon, vibrandoneon, trumpet; D.D. Lowka: bass, percussion; Tim Collins: vibraphone.
