Keyon Harrold / Klub Royal
What's it about?
A show at KLUB ROYAL: KEYON HARROLD "Keyon Harrold is the future of the trumpet" - Downbeat Magazine Musically, Harrold lives by the notion that the only thing that defines a genre is its beat. That belief has allowed Harrold to break down genre barriers and explore music freely. There are only 12 notes, so he pours his soul into every musical situation, whether performing live and leading his band, recording, composing for television and film, mentoring youth, or teaching music. "Keyon Harrold carries a natural swagger that is not misplaced: he’s a compelling communicator and commanding trumpeter." The magic of his performance is the achievement of a quintet that resonates as both accomplished and raw, always seeking new challenges..." - Love Supreme Festival Keyon’s career spans collaborations and solo work at a high level. He is a once-in-a-generation talent on the trumpet. His approach and sound are personal and engaging; often described as a modern-day Miles Davis. Keyon was the trumpet voice of Miles Davis in the film "Miles Ahead" by Don Cheadle, which received a Grammy Award for its soundtrack. He has toured and recorded with Jay-Z ("Roc Boys" and "The Winner is" from the "American Gangster" album), Beyoncé ("B’Day", "Renaissance 2022"), Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Cirque du Soleil, and was signed by legendary rapper Nas (Mass Appeal). He also wrote the theme song for The Queen Latifah Show. Keyon is a first-call trumpeter, arranger, composer, and music producer, with credits on many Grammy-winning and nominated albums. He has worked in the studio with Keith Richards, Diana Ross, Black Pumas, Mac Miller ("Stay"), Big K.R.I.T., Nas ("The Jarreau of Rap"), Leon Bridges ("Gold Diggers Sound"), and UK singer Samm Henshaw ("Still Broke"). Line-up: Keyon Harrold - trumpet, vocals; Nir Felder - guitar; Charles Haynes - drums; Shedrick Mitchell - keys; Dan Winshall – bass.
