Prinzeral Sterz? Brennsterz? Bohnensterz? With coffee, mushroom soup, or buttermilk? No matter how simple the basic recipe may seem, there are many different variations! In whatever form, you will definitely be satisfied. Sterz was long considered a food of the poor, but today it is very popular in traditional-modern cuisine. During our tour through the museum, we will explore the origins of this dish, find out how Sterz came to Styria, and what Archduke Johann had to do with it! Starting with an extensive stay in the historic smoke room, where not only cooking and eating took place but also living, we begin our discovery journey. It is a good opportunity to talk about food and drink and to learn about the historical rural everyday life in Styria. At the end of the tour, you will visit Gut Schloßberg for an interesting demonstration of three Sterz variations. Meeting point: 4:30 PM at the Volkskundemuseum on Paulustor in Graz, Paulustorgasse 11, 8010 Graz. The event begins with a 50- to 60-minute guided tour, followed by a demonstration of Sterz at Gut Schloßberg with communal eating and a cozy conclusion.
