What's it about?

The music-text collage "Klein Wien am Pruth" combines the "Czernowitzer Skizzen" composed in 2004 by Alexander Kukelka for clarinet quartet with texts from the rich literary tradition of Bukovina. Against the backdrop of current events, the program takes on special significance: it recalls the cultural diversity and the peaceful coexistence of different ethnicities and confessions in historic Bukovina, the present-day western Ukraine. As a musical and literary homage, "Klein Wien am Pruth" sends a message for understanding, tolerance, and peace, and invites learning from history for the present.
