What's it about?

Noises Off by Michael Frayn In summer 2026, the Schloss-Spiele Kobersdorf will take a delightful look behind the scenes, where Noises Off takes place: A comedy troupe rehearses their play - and even the final rehearsal before the premiere suggests the worst! Some struggle with props, others with the script. Doors jam and entrances are missed. The director desperately tries to bring his production to an end. But the real dramas unfold backstage. Because during the ongoing performance, in addition to the usual timing issues, all sorts of relationship problems within the ensemble, a fatal whiskey bottle, and unexpected visitors join in. Finally, the focus returns to the stage action. By the end of the tour in the provinces, not much is left of the original arrangements. And with admirable improvisational talent, all involved save themselves into redemptive chaos. When British author Michael Frayn observed the goings-on of one of his early farces from the wings, he said: "It was funnier from behind than from in front, and I thought that one day I must write a farce from behind." The idea for Noises Off was born! Since its London premiere in 1982, this absurd play has been one of the most successful comedies worldwide. Now it can finally be experienced at the Schloss-Spiele Kobersdorf, directed by Claus Tröger - and of course, artistic director Wolfgang Böck also plunges into the incredible pandemonium.
