What's it about?

Zweig Reloaded combines Stefan Zweig's autobiographical legacy "The World of Yesterday – Memories of a European" with music by Haydn, Mozart, Janáček, and Shostakovich. In a staged lecture, central passages from Zweig's work are contrasted with quartets that make audible the intellectual rise, the disruption, and the downfall of Europe. The actor interprets the text freely and emotionally, so that words and music merge into a vibrant unity. Zweig's memories show the path of a Jewish European who experienced the flourishing, the collapse, and the expulsion of his world. The project reflects the fragility of liberal orders and the destructive power of nationalism and intolerance. It commemorates a generation whose faith in humanity and progress shattered in the chaos of the 20th century. Zweig Reloaded is both a warning and an artistic vision – a plea for humanity, peace, and European understanding.Admission: €25,-
