Resistance in the Nazi Regime - European Days of Jewish Culture
What's it about?
Austrian resistance was and is often overlooked in Austrian post-war history or classified as largely insignificant. This perception is a result of the Cold War historiography of the 1950s and 1960s. In fact, 9,000 Austrians paid for their resistance against the Nazi regime with their lives. Most victims of military justice are still unexplored and therefore forgotten to this day. The Gestapo itself kept files on over 100,000 people who were at least once "interrogated" for political reasons - and one knows what that usually meant back then. The view that resistance was mainly limited to left-wing, socialist or communist social strata is also misleading. Around half of the people involved in the resistance came from ecclesiastical, conservative and bourgeois circles.The musical accompaniment will be provided by musicians from the Oberschüt... Music Academy.
