With BORN TO BE CHILD, Alex Kristan presents not just a cabaret program, but a way of life. And one that we too often forget in "adult mode" because the voice of reason is so loud. The perfect reason for him to steadfastly continue to follow his motto "Sensible is like dead – only before." Alex Kristan has consistently refused to grow up for over fifty years, and increasingly prefers to escalate in an age-appropriate manner. In times when people sue their own mirrors for body shaming, he holds one up to us all the more – and shows us with his very own "Born Identity" that despite responsibility, to-do lists, and societal norms, you can also make faces in it. With a sharp eye and even sharper wit, he dissects the absurdities of modern adulthood. Men with a woman complex, silver foxes with an aging allergy, or the fitness craze vs. the "I'm always beautiful" lie. Not to forget the Nine-Eleven of the pension system, also called "Rentenhausen's Nightmare": the longevity hype and the romanticized escape "back to nature" in the hope that the supposedly intact world there will last a while longer. For him, being an adult does not mean fulfilling expectations and functioning in the zeitgeist, but fulfilling the promises one made to oneself as a child. Keeping this child – and thus the humor – alive in us is Alex Kristan's all-purpose remedy against the seriousness of life. Alex Kristan and his inner "Rotzpipn" (snot-nosed kid) as a dream team remind us that all of this is not a dress rehearsal, but the actual main program. Together, they once again make their audience laugh their heads off – with heart, brains, and childlike joy. BORN TO BE CHILD is an emergency exit from the hamster wheel.
