MAMMA MIA! - The Musical

Thursday 12 August · 20:00Seebühne Mörbisch · burgenland

What's it about?

Music and lyrics by Benny Andersson / Björn Ulvaeus (and some songs with Stig Anderson), book by Catherine Johnson, original concept by Judy Craymer. The licensing of the performance rights is granted in agreement with Music Theatre International. Stage distribution for Austria: Josef Weinberger Wien, GESMBH. The worldwide hit musical "MAMMA MIA!" returns to the Mörbisch lake stage in summer 2027 under the motto "Alles neu" (All new)! A new stage design, new costumes, and cast are intended to attract the over 180,000 visitors of the first Mörbisch production to see this blockbuster musical by ABBA again, as well as to lure fans who did not get tickets in 2023. What remains unchanged? Of course, the unforgettable songs of ABBA: from Mamma Mia to Super Trouper to Take a Chance on Me, the show continues to be driven by the ever-current worldwide hits of the Swedish cult band. Naturally, the lake stage will again exude Greek flair and summer holiday atmosphere. The humorous story by British author Catherine Johnson has delighted over 60 million people worldwide with charm, wit, and esprit. It tells the mother-daughter story of the single mother Donna and her 20-year-old daughter Sophie, who wants to uncover the secret of her father just before her wedding. Look forward to "MAMMA MIA!" as a love letter to life, featuring legendary ABBA sound and the unique atmosphere at the Mörbisch lake stage, which seems perfect for this musical. Please note that both singing and dialogue will be performed in German. Due to copyright reasons, we are obliged to do so within the German-speaking region. The only exceptions are international touring productions, where performances are in English.
