Viktor Gernot - A Night Before Christmas
What's it about?
Viktor Gernot - A Night Before Christmas Piano: Prof. Aaron Wonesch An evening of songs to mark the pre-Christmas season with Christmas songs, Advent stories, and satires. Curated, assembled, and sung by the Austrian master of Christmas concerts, Viktor Gernot. Accompanied on piano by his friend and long-time musical partner, the brilliant master of all 88 keys, Prof. Aaron Wonesch. Since the early 1990s, Viktor Gernot has been performing swinging Advent concerts. Starting from small clubs like Roter Engel, through the legendary series of performances across all federal states, at the Simpl cabaret and later at Casanova Vienna, up to the Ronacher Vienna, and even in the city halls of Graz and Vienna. Formerly with Viktor Gernot's Best Friends, his long-standing band. Always with unmistakable, original arrangements of an exclusive selection from the Great American Christmas Songbook, mixed with carefully chosen poems and stories, delivered in the famous tone of the protagonist. Often imitated, never duplicated. In all these projects, Aaron's role as pianist was indispensable. And so, in December 2026, the two will come together again to interpret swinging, jazzy, and sometimes ballad-like songs. The enthusiasm and love Viktor Gernot felt as a child when he first heard White Christmas in the Hollywood film ‘Holiday Inn’ form the basis of this concert night. His first LP under the Christmas tree was Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas’. Over the decades, this enthusiasm has grown through hundreds of concerts and the study of Christmas literature, both literary and musical, into true expertise and mastery. A Night Before Christmas. Let Viktor Gernot and Aaron Wonesch take you away and enchant you. And Keep On Swingin‘!
