Brigitte Ederer is one of Austria's most successful managers and politicians. In her role as State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery, she was responsible for European affairs from 1992 to 1994 together with Foreign Minister Alois Mock and negotiated Austria's accession to the European Union. The high approval rate of two-thirds in the referendum is largely due to her responsibility for internal Austrian communication. Subsequently, Ederer was the federal managing director of the SPÖ and later Vienna's Finance and Economic City Councillor. She then moved to the board of Siemens AG, initially in Austria and later in Germany. In 2014, she became Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of ÖBB, a position she has held with a break until today.
