What's it about?

Approximately 1,000 years (up to the late 18th century), we find in Europe on Jewish gravestones no language other than Hebrew. This exclusivity of Hebrew shows us that the Jewish cemetery is a sacred space. The inscriptions were written by people for their deceased with great love and wisdom. They communicate with the dead, share their sorrows and joys, or seek comfort and advice in times of need and danger. The themed evening deals with the most beautiful and interesting inscriptions in the area of present-day Burgenland. Speaker: Mag.
