As Nemorino in "L'elisir d'amore" at the Vienna State Opera, as Alfredo in "La Traviata" at the Salzburg Festival and as Rodolfo in Robert Dornhelm's film adaptation of "La Bohème", in all three cases alongside Anna Netrebko, he has written himself into the annals of opera interpretation. But Villazón also proves his skill as a lieder interpreter and zarzuela singer, and more generally with a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary. The author, draftsman and comedian has also long been successful as a director, is cultural ambassador for his home country Mexico and artistic director of the Mozart Week Salzburg.
