Maria - Unterwegs mit unserer rumänischen Pflegerin
What's it about?
For three years, Maria A. from Timisoara, Romania, worked in Vorarlberg, traveling 20 hours by minibus from a provincial village to Feldkirch, round trip every four weeks. She cared intensively for the central person in a foreign family, then for a month for her own family. A woman's life between devotion and exploitation, between adaptation and extreme pressure is explored. The perspective always focuses on the loving care and professional commitment to others. What remains of Maria personally, what stays with her, where does she disappear behind caregiving, self-sacrifice, and attention? The story considers both the close view of a specific person and the larger context of European economic inequalities that mainly affect women. It tells of a particular form of migration, guest work, and employment relationships.
