What's it about?
Sometimes a street corner, a view from the window, or a song at the right moment is enough, and suddenly the world belongs to you alone for three minutes. "Meine Stadt" – the debut album by bac along with its eponymous tour – is exactly about this feeling. Not about some place you find on a map, but about a city that exists in your mind when memory, longing, and the present moment briefly collide. Before this feeling turned into a full project and eventually the first long-playing record, bac was already on a journey. With the single "Rosaroter Tee" he reached number 33 on the German charts and made it into the Spotify Top 50 across the DACH region. Over 70 live shows followed – including his first headlining tour. The 21-year-old, born in Ethiopia and raised in Villach, Austria, by his German adoptive parents, could have simply continued this momentum. But bac didn’t want to just keep going; he wanted to find out what it sounds like when he stops thinking in terms of singles and instead focuses directly on an entire album. The first significant impulse came in summer 2025, at home in Villach. Without a plan, briefing, or big intention, bac recorded a song that sounded different from anything he had done before. "There was little intention behind it. It was more like letting it out," he recalls. This song sketch later became the title track of "Meine Stadt" and marked the beginning and starting point of everything that followed. After a writing camp in Lüneburg at the end of 2025, bac then spent five weeks in Prague in February 2026, working in a studio inside an abandoned sports stadium surrounded by producers and songwriters from Berlin, Vienna, Leipzig, Cologne, and Prague on new material. "Meine Stadt," the result of this work, combines hip-hop drums, guitars, indie melodies, and beats that don’t want to be too polished. Although bac clearly comes from a rap background, his musical perspective has long since broadened. The concert tour for the album is a journey about being on the move, but also about the rare happiness of arriving somewhere. At least for a moment. And so bac is now heading towards this one city, your city, to create and celebrate that moment.
