Andreas Rainer, known as the Viennese Everyday Poet, collects quotes and oddities from Viennese everyday life for over 300,000 followers on social media. In the city of grand stages, his gaze is primarily directed at the small alleys, coffee houses, subway stations, and supermarkets, where comedy and tragedy go hand in hand every day. After successfully remaining anonymous for years, he ventured onto the stage for the first time in 2025 - and with success: all dates were completely sold out. Based on the most popular quotes from the last eight years, he tells the story of the Viennese Everyday Poets, why he is only recognized in Graz or in swimming trunks, and presents the most beautiful examples of the literary genre of staircase notes. Furthermore, he attempts to develop a guide on how to survive the most livable city in the world. Because how can it be that Vienna is simultaneously the most livable and also the unfriendliest city in the world? Why do we have the leisure to spend all day idling in a coffee house, but panic and demand a second checkout when three people are queuing in front of us at the supermarket? Using images, texts, and quotes from Viennese everyday life, Andreas Rainer paints a picture for an evening of a city where splendor is flaunted, while twenty meters away the world is already ending.
