Prinz Grizzley draws from alt-country, Americana, blues, and folk – deeply rooted in the heart of the impressive Austrian mountains – and touches hearts far beyond his alpine home with his music. Chris Comper, the artist and driving force behind Prinz Grizzley, creates a unique musical tapestry woven from the essence of mountains, forests, stubbornness, warmth of heart, religiosity, and the simplicity of life. On his journey so far, Prinz Grizzley has presented a remarkable body of work, including the EP "Wide Open Country" (2016) as well as the albums "Come On In" (2018), "To My Green Mountains Home" (2020), and most recently "Dear Leftovers" (2024). His live performances have established a firm presence in the music scene, captivating festival-goers and a broad audience in Ireland, England, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and Italy. In 2018, Prinz Grizzley made a lasting impression on US stages with performances at SXSW in Austin, Texas, the AmericanaFest in Nashville, and in 2024 at the Folk Alliance International in Kansas City. An international milestone followed with Seasick Steve's "Can u Cook" tour, which saw Prinz Grizzley as a permanent support act through Europe's and Great Britain's most renowned venues. A recent highlight of his live career was his performance at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival in 2025, underscoring his status as a first-class live performer. The new album "Tilda," set to be released on October 2, 2026, sees Prinz Grizzley leaving the wide Americana paths to approach the listener very closely. With these songs, the alpine storyteller embarks on a new, drastically reduced sonic path: he leaves the driving sound of a full Americana band and turns to a dark, more intimate folk. "Tilda" picks up autobiographical traces from the lives of his grandparents – of war, loss, and new beginnings in a time when certainties were fragile. The pieces connect these historical experiences with a present that is once again characterized by uncertainty, upheavals, and a latent sense of catastrophe. In this field of tension, a work emerges that considers vulnerability and resilience side by side, without idealizing them.
