A perfect work of art with live orchestra accompaniment. The ballet "The Nutcracker" is based on Alexandre Dumas' version of the story "Nussknacker und Mausekönig" by E.T.A. Hoffmann. Tchaikovsky's musical adaptation premiered on December 18, 1892, in Saint Petersburg, choreographed by Lew Iwanow, and delighted both children and adults. The classical ballet art has often been highly praised by critics worldwide. But a proverb says: "Seeing once is better than hearing a hundred times." On Christmas Eve, she receives a nutcracker as a gift from her godfather Drosselmeyer. As she goes to sleep, she dreams of a battle between the toy soldiers led by the Nutcracker against the army of the Mouse King. With his help, the Nutcracker wins, and he transforms into a prince. The prince travels with Marie to the Land of Sweets, crossing the pine forest to the Sugar Castle, where the Sugar Fairy hosts a celebration in honor of her guests. The performance features the magnificent stage design by the brilliant theater designer Vjatscheslav Okunev, who has worked for the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg and La Scala in Milan, beautiful costumes, and the boundless elegance and carefree lightness of the International Festival Ballet ensemble, creating a dreamy and fairy-tale version of a classic ballet that continues to fascinate after more than 100 years. Artistic Director: Elena Antsupova. Founded in 2009, the International Festival Ballet aims to represent the best traditions and spirit of classical ballet. It is an international ballet company that thinks beyond national borders, bringing together dancers from more than 20 nations and standing for understanding and coexistence through the poetry of art, music, and dance. Artistically, the ballet represents the Russian school of classical ballet in its purest form. The 42 dancers of the International Festival Ballet have all undergone this rigorous training, whether at the Vaganova Academy in Saint Petersburg, the Moscow Choreography Academy, the ballet school in Ufa or Perm in Russia, Kyiv or Kharkiv ballet schools in Ukraine, or at Italian La Scala or French Grand Opera. All have worked at the most important ballet theaters in Europe and have won numerous awards at international ballet festivals and competitions. Together, they have become one of the most aesthetically and technically successful ballet companies not only in Europe but worldwide, as part of the International Festival Ballet.
