New York ska pioneers The Toasters celebrate their 45th band anniversary in 2026 and are going on a big tour that will also take them to Austria. Since their formation in 1981 by Robert “Bucket” Hingley, they have stood for energetic, brass-driven ska sound. Bucket founded the band because he missed the 2-Tone sounds from England – and thus ignited the American ska wave. Early on, The Toasters embraced a DIY spirit, founded the influential label Moon Ska Records in 1983, and influenced numerous US ska bands.
