Moderation: Marie-Rose Rodewald-Cerha "There are many books about fathers, and yet Hans-Joachim Gögl adds something new, surprising and captivating." Ilija Trojanow This father knew exactly how to live correctly. He was the master of perfectly dosed mediocrity: long walks, freely available time, laughter among colleagues. He disapproved of the life of his son, who runs a design agency. Too externally controlled, too ambitious, too rushed. But the son not only wants to question the world, but also to improve it. When the father dies, the son has doubts. Does the father's art of living perhaps lead to a happier life after all? He decides to try it out and, for five weeks, slips into the role of his father. Hans-Joachim Gögl has succeeded in creating a playfully light and profound debut novel. Hans-Joachim Gögl is a trained bookseller, today he heads the photography and music program at the BTV Stadtforum Innsbruck and is curator of the "Tage der Utopie" (Days of Utopia). The festival on common good-oriented future visions takes place in Götzis/Vorarlberg and is a recipient of the Austrian State Prize for Adult Education. "Vatertag" (Father's Day) is his first novel. The author lives in Bregenz.
