Kopswerk I was built between 1962 and 1969 and has been in operation with two machine groups since 1969 and with three since 1970. The power house cavern is located 200 meters inside the mountain. With a length of 70 meters, a width of 26 meters, and a height of 29 meters, the machine cavern was the largest rock cavity ever built in this manner at that time. Kopswerk I uses water from Kopssee and its annual storage capacity. It utilizes the drop from Kopssee to Partenen with a height difference of approximately 780 meters.Duration of the tour: approx. 1.5 hoursFree and without registration
