Heritage Day: 4 Montafon Museums, Schualhüsli Bitschweil, Historic Sawmill "Mülli" Latschau
What's it about?
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, hundreds of monuments throughout Austria will once again open their doors and invite visitors to rediscover our cultural heritage with free admission. Under the motto "Monuments: Value for all.", we jointly demonstrate the social, cultural, ecological, and economic value that monuments have for all of us. The four museums in Montafon, with their different focuses, are almost all housed in listed buildings that have undergone varied use over many decades. Details on this are elaborated in the publication "Montafoner Hausgeschichte(n)" (Montafon House Stories) and in the permanent exhibitions of the same name in the houses, and can be discussed on site with museum staff. On Heritage Day, the four Montafon museums are open from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and invite visitors to see the current exhibitions. Old Schualhüsli Bitschweil On Heritage Day, the Schualhüsli Bitschweil is open from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Sawmill "Mülli" Latschau Hubert Loretz opens his sawmill on Heritage Day and invites visitors. From 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, there will be continuous guided tours and demonstration sawing. Hubert Loretz has been operating his sawmill for many years with great personal and financial effort.
