But what did the animal world of the real Ice Age actually look like? Expert Dr. Martina Pacher gives us exciting insights into the Ice Age animal world of the Alpine region and its adjacent areas. Because the Ice Age was by no means a continuously cold ice desert: Many animal species were able to spread – others disappeared. Did cave bears and mammoths meet, for example? Who followed the cave bear into the high mountains? And what did the communities of life look like that came to an end with the disappearance of the megafauna at the end of the last Ice Age?
