Join us on a guided hike through the unique Gipslöcher nature reserve in Oberlech, a distinctive and protected natural jewel. The Gipslöcher are not only geologically impressive – with over 1,000 sinkholes, the area is among the largest gypsum cave formations in Central Europe – but also an important habitat for a variety of alpine plants and animals. During the summer months, 35 different orchid species can be found in this climatically special area. Our hike will lead you through an enchanting, almost moon-like landscape, where deep karst depressions, fragrant flower meadows, and spectacular views of the Lecher mountain world alternate. You will learn interesting facts about the formation of this special landscape, its geological context, and the delicate balance that characterizes this protected area.
