Bludenz Big Band Union: Back to Basie
What's it about?
Since its founding about 12 years ago, the concerts of the Bludenz Big Band Union (BBBU) have become a fixture of the Vorarlberg cultural scene. In recent years, the ensemble has developed into one of the highest quality big bands in the country. With numerous different projects and guest musicians (Peter Madsen, Veronika Morscher, Robert Bachner, Alois Eberl, Florian Bramböck, Herbert Walser-Breuß and many more), the 18-member band ensures sold-out venues throughout the country. For example, in 2025, a new project with the rock'n'roll band "The Monroes" caused a sensation, resulting in two completely sold-out premiere concerts in the Bludenz Remise. With the project "A Swingin ' X(i)-Mas" and the singers Bastian Berchtold, Philipp Lingg and Berndt Miller, the BBBU just recently again provided two sold-out concerts in December at Theater Kosmos in Bregenz and in the Sonnenbergsaal Nüziders. In September 2026, the Bludenz Big Band Union will return to the Remise Bludenz with their latest musical coup. With "Back to Basie", this top-class ensemble revives the music of the legendary and universally popular "Count Basie Orchestras". While the Bludenz BBBU shines with its instrumentalists in the first set, it will be reinforced by the exceptional singer Bastian Berchtold in the second set. Look forward to a unique concert experience, inspired by the roots of the Big Band Sound: pure, direct, swinging and precise!
