
From Gimmeldingen Kirchplatz, the tour heads out to the vineyards, past Riesling, Spätburgunder, and other grape varieties to a small but very special vineyard. There, the 12 most important grape varieties of the Palatinate are cultivated, even the important American wild vine can be found. Guests can taste the wine berries here and determine the ripeness of the grapes themselves with a refractometer. Along the way, the guides provide information about the work of the winemaker in the vineyard and in the cellar, current climatic problems, they talk about pest control and green manuring - everything about wine. They also lead to a special geotop, a limestone outcrop in the Biengarten vineyard, where the topic of terroir is presented. The highlight in the truest sense of the word is the König-Ludwig-Pavillon with its magnificent view, which King Ludwig I of Bavaria already enjoyed.
